The HKUST Alumni Association of Ontario is led by a passionate executive committee dedicated to strengthening community connections and enriching members’ experiences.
Brian Tsui
President, BSc (Mathematics)
Brian holds a math degree from HKUST and a master’s degree from the University of Toronto. He leads efforts to connect graduates and foster a strong alumni community in Canada. Based in Markham, he is an Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) with a passion for STEM education. Beyond his professional commitments, Brian enjoys badminton, photography, and skiing. As an avid traveller, he has visited all provinces in Canada. He has actively supported many newly arrived alumni by welcoming them, answering their questions, and helping them navigate life in Ontario, strengthening the bonds between HKUST and its graduates abroad.
Winnie Wong
Internal Vice President, BBA (Professional Accounting & Information Systems)
Winnie earned a bachelor’s degree in Business from HKUST. She also studied as an exchange student at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, where she built fond memories that inspired her to settle in Canada 7 years later. She now works as a UI/UX designer, creating web and mobile experiences for financial institutions. Outside of work, she enjoys solving mysteries, reading horror fiction, and daydreaming. In her free time, she reflects on existential questions and wants to find meaning through providing support to her community. She hopes that HKUST alumni can continue to shine and thrive when starting a new leaf in a foreign place.
Hermes Sun
Internal Vice President, BEng (Computer Science)
A decade after the unforgettable energy of hall life, student council, and the HKUST FYS community, CS graduate Hermes now lives in Toronto. Working in e-commerce and digital marketing, he is grateful for the support from HKUST and hopes to contribute to our university's spirit in Canada. He would be thrilled to reconnect with anyone who shared those memories.
Dr. Kristy Suen
Internal Vice President (Member Service), BSc in Biotechnology, PhD in Environmental Science, Policy and Management
Kristy has deep roots at HKUST, where she served as a hall mentor and tutor, ambassador, student society leader, and representative in international academic programs, before completing both her undergraduate and doctoral studies. She is committed to engaging members and building a welcoming alumni community in Ontario and beyond. Professionally, Kristy works across research, education, and public management, while beyond work she enjoys volunteering and travelling. With a passion for bringing people together, she strives to make every alumnus feel at home in the HKUST network.
Alan Yip
External Vice President, MSc (Engineering Enterprise Management)
P.Eng, CEng MIMechE
Alan helps strengthen connections among graduates and fosters a vibrant alumni community in Canada. He is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with a strong background in construction and a passion for leading his Scout group. Beyond his professional expertise, Alan has actively supported newly arrived alumni by sharing guidance, and helping them adapt to life in Ontario. His efforts continue to build meaningful ties between HKUST and its graduates abroad. In his personal time, Alan enjoys soccer, camping, and snowboarding, and as an avid traveller, he has explored most provinces across Canada.
Shun Yee Wong (Rebecca)
Secretary, BBA (Economics)
Rebecca earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics from HKUST and a second degree in Law from the UK, with expertise in supply chain compliance and QSHE. During her third year at HKUST, she studied as an exchange student at the University of British Columbia, fueling a lasting appreciation for Canada’s scenery and hospitality. In 2023, she relocated to Canada and now works in legal compliance for an IT/HR consulting firm in Ontario. She enjoys walking trails, road trips, and gatherings with friends, and volunteers as Secretary for HKUSTAAO to connect more alumni by organizing activities over the next two years.
Christina Ng
Treasurer, BBA (Marketing)
With a strong background in customer service and operational support, Christina brings precision and care to every detail. Christina is passionate about fostering engagement, building trust, and contributing to the continued growth of our alumni community.
Janette Chan
Executive Member, BSc (Economics and Finance)
Janette earned her BSc in Economics and Finance from HKUST in 2023. In 2024, she relocated to Toronto and now works in the reinsurance industry with a focus on data operations and analytics. Inspired by Canada’s values of diversity and community, Janette enjoys exploring life abroad while staying connected to her roots. Outside of work, she loves movies and games. As a committee member of the HKUSTAAO, Janette hopes to foster closer community bonding among alumni and create meaningful opportunities to connect and support one another.
David Cheung
Executive Member, BSc (Environmental Science)
David graduated with a BSc in Environmental Science from HKUST in 2020. Based in Toronto since 2022, currently engaged in the AEC industry with a focus on digital transformation and enterprise application management. Passionate about food and wine, and grateful for the chance to support the HKUST alumni community on the east coast of Canada.
Albert Wan
Executive Member, MSc (Investment Management)
P.Eng, BSEE, MSc., MBA, DBA
The First HKUSTAAO President, One of HKUSTAAO Founders
Albert pursued his study in Canada and Hong Kong particularly with a Master of Investment Management in HKUST. Worked in Canadian Government National Defense projects and Hong Kong Infrastructure Projects as a civil servant. Set up and operated his own companies in Hong Kong, China and Vietnam to perform electronic trading among global suppliers, buyers and financial institutes.
